Human beings are very self absorbed, myopic and nearly entirely controlled by outside forces. Remember we live in a world with serial killers, and we are blind to our own malevolence, which mostly manifests as banal unconcerned exploitation of other life forms. The “higher” beings are no different, if not worse. So, if we are all Brahman, etc., then we are also serial killers. I am not a serial killer, neither are you. Thus, things are not as you have been taught. The reason we have been taught wrongly is because the thing doing the teaching is evil.
