The universe you commonly know... is machine generated. The appearance of earth and the universe are a virtual reality. The actual reality we live in, in this virtual reality, is pre-recorded... even our science experiments.

The problem you are having is a physicalist and overly human-centric perspective. For instance, you live in a factory farm and believe it to be the world. You also believe that the world you know is run by benevolence.

I have seen the "after life," and worlds beyond our own, and it has very little to do with human beings.
