Parmenides does not believe in the “void,” because such a concept is itself non-existence. And, since it is non-existence, it doesn’t exist. In order for movement to occur you need to be able to move from one place to another. But, Parmenides does not believe that another place exists to move in to. So, movement is an experience with no true reality. It’s like if you were to wear virtual reality goggles... it would only feel like you were moving. It would be an illusion. This is what Parmenides was saying, but actually it was the Goddess that was speaking.
